As battery power continues to become more complex and powerful, Ryobi has introduced a 40V power station inverter. Doubles as a super charger for Ryobi 40V batteries, it provides pure sine wave current to power everything from TVs and refrigerators to sensitive electronic devices. With 1,800 watts of operating power (and 3,000 watts of peak power), Ryobi RYI1802B6 looks like a viable solution for construction site, camping, trailing and emergency standby applications.
One of the highlights of the Ryobi 40V power station inverter is its modular design. The battery-powered inverter market does not lack options at this point, but in most cases with internal battery designs, we are happy that we can use 1 to 4 Ryobi 40V batteries of any size to run the inverter (Although to optimize performance) and runtime, you may want to use all 4 available ports).
When using the supplied charging adapter to plug into the AC power source, the RYi1802 will operate as a battery charger, charging the batteries in turn. However, it should be noted that the inverter does not seem to have a pass-through function. This means that when plugged in, the inverter only operates as a charger, cutting off any power you plug into the socket or USB port.
However, when operating as a portable power solution, the Ryobi 40V power station inverter can provide clean, quiet power. The RYi1802 has a starting power of 3,000 watts and an operating power of 1,800 watts. It can power appliances, fans, lights and small electronic devices from its three 120V sockets. Or, you can use any of the 6 different USB ports to charge your mobile phones, laptops, batteries, and other sensitive electronic devices.
If you need more power, you can connect Ryobi Power Station to another inverter to get twice the power output. Ryobi sells parallel kits separately.
Ryobi has also designed a 40V power station inverter with Bluetooth functionality so that you can control it from your smart device using the Ryobi GenControl app. Using the app, you can activate remote shutdown and monitor battery level and power consumption rate.
As we said, the design of battery-powered inverters started late, and Ryobi is not the only brand that uses similar designs. For example, EGO and DeWalt have very similar available models. This is a rough comparison to see how they stack up.
You can find RyobiRYI1802B6 40V power station inverters in three configurations at your local Home Depot or online. In the first configuration, it is equipped with two 6.0Ah batteries and retails for US$799. Or, if you prefer to buy enough batteries to utilize all four ports at the same time, you can purchase a larger kit. It is equipped with four 6.0Ah batteries and costs $1,057. In the end, you can use the inverter as a bare metal for only $649. Ryobi provides a 5-year warranty for the inverter and a 3-year warranty for the battery.
